Our Place at Aldea Mar -- Venice, FL

Aldea Mar is a quiet Venice Island enclave of charming, townhouse-style condos built in 1970, situated on nearly 12 acres on the best part of Venice Beach. Footpaths wander through acres of lush landscaping of green space in a very quiet environment. Palms, banyan trees, and a rich variety of tropical plantings populate the casual, park-like grounds. A single, horseshoe road goes into the property, so there is no through traffic - a great place for kids to run free, especially since most places offer just a parking lot outside the door, and require a car ride to go anywhere for fun. From our place, you can ride your bike to almost anything you would like to do. You can even walk to the pretty streets to town, as it's barely a mile! Truly, there is absolutely nothing like Aldea Mar on Venice Island, or anywhere else in Florida, I suspect.

Cozy Aldea Mar is a casual & comfortable development, not a gated community. It has an older-Florida feel of decades ago, with it's putting green, shuffleboard, and friendly community structures. The large, heated pool is only separated from the azure waters of the Gulf of Mexico by the enchanting dunes that border the property. It's like living in a park. As a visitor, you'll also notice how friendly the neighbors are, yet there is great respect for privacy.

These semi-detached designs are usually called "villas" in Southwest Florida, although up north, we would probably call it a townhouse. Our condo is a comfortable, single floor, 2 bedroom - 2 bath unit, nestled on a cul-de-sac, while the small patio (with large Adirondack chairs) opens to a quiet and verdant walking path that quickly leads to the pool and beach. The vaulted ceiling creates an airy environment that makes the place feel light and spacious. The condo has it's own attached carport located at the rear of the unit, so that your car sits in the shade, and groceries need only be carried a few yards from the vehicle to your kitchen counter. Amenities include: cable TV and WIFI, washer & dryer, dishwasher, beach gear, and more.

If you have never been to Venice Island, you will be amazed how wonderfully different this sweet and friendly town is. It is located on one of the most beautiful parts of the Intracoastal Waterway, and the endless Gulf beaches are breathtaking and unspoiled. This quaint, picturesque town, built in the 1920's, replete with parks and stunning architecture throughout, is loaded with terrific restaurants and great shops; the extensive bike paths, wonderful arts community, town theater, musical venues, all surrounded by water, make this island "Florida at its best." And, remember, Venice is barely 30 minutes south of Sarasota, the most culturally interesting city in the state. So, dining, shopping, and attending the many interesting events that happen there is a breeze.

The interior of our place has been updated in late 2013 to include porcelain tile floors throughout, complemented by attractive area rugs, all new windows & plumbing fixtures, fresh paint, new blinds, bathroom vanities, and other improvements.

Finally, it should be comforting to know that all money and contracts are handled by a long-standing rental agency on the island. Your deposit is kept in a secured escrow account. Therefore, no money is paid to me directly, and furthermore, my delightful, local rental agent is always available to help in any way. I am very happy to chat on the phone at any time, even if you're just looking for a bit of friendly advice about Venice.

Sorry... no pets or inside smoking permitted.
